Our Training Courses

The aim of our courses is to train groups of Early Years practitioners and advisers/ consultants in the use of the Environment Rating Scales:

....

·         The Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS-R), appropriate for evaluating provision for very young children

..

·         The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R), appropriate for evaluating provision for 2½  to 5 year olds

..

·         The UK extension to the ECERS-R (the ECERS-E), designed for in-depth curricular assessment of provision for 3 to 5 year olds

..

·         The Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS-R), appropriate for assessing home-based childminding provision

..

·         The School Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS), designed to assess group care for children aged 5 to 12 years, for example in out-of-school care

..

Our five day course includes:

  • Comprehensive training on the scales of your choice

  • Guided practical sessions (in small groups) using the scales to observe in settings

  • A workshop on using the scales for supported centre improvement and self-assessment

  • Demonstration of the possibilities for broader data analysis (e.g. using the scales for an authority-wide quality audit)

The cost of the course is £120 - £150 per person per day, depending on location and numbers (average group size is 25 people). This includes copies of the relevant scales and all the materials needed for training. We train in the venue of your choice and run the practical sessions in settings within your authority area.

If you have particular requirements or ideas, we would be happy to discuss these with you and develop an individual training plan.

“Extremely helpful and professional trainers who went the “extra mile” for us on many occasions. All the advisers who attended the training were extremely keen to feed back what an excellent practical and professional course it was, and many said it was the best CPD they had experienced
for a long time.”
